Yogurt Cup Predicament

From the time our son was a little less than a year old up to a few months ago he would consume 2-3 cups of yogurt a day 7 times a week. He liked it frozen and he ate it like ice cream. 

You may already know that we keep all yogurt cups and use them in many ways. Because of the amount that our son used to consume

you could just imagine how much yogurt cups we have collected over time. (check out this, this, this and this!)

About six moths ago, all of a sudden, he wouldn't take even a spoonful. He probably got so tired of it and decided on going cold turkey. Then just as abruptly as he gave up on his yogurt habit, a few days ago, out of the blue, he asked if we could have some.

 

Becasue it has been a few months ago since the last time I bought yogurt from the grocery I was surprised that Nestle yogurt has changed their packaging. 



Although I agree that the new look is better I am having a little problem on how to store them. Because the sides of the new cup are parallel (versus the former design which widens at the opening) they don't stack so well. We don't want to throw they away but I have to think of a better storage solution.

We invited the neighbors over to play with our little man a couple of weeks ago (no, this was really last January! Hence, this is another super late post). Alonzo had just received 2 balikbayan boxes full of toys from Mima and wanted to share them with his playmates.  

Guess what they were more interested in?

Yup. His yogurt cup collection!!!

Reusing Empty Yogurt Cups as Popsicle Molds

Several months ago I found a couple popsicle molds sold at Saizen.  

I was instantly attracted to this really cute, pastel colored one that

I couldn't resist getting it. Honestly, that was my only resason why i bought it.

We have been re-using empty yogurt cups as popsicle molds (among other things) for quite some time. There was a time when our little guy had been consuming quite alot of yogurt per day that we have already collected hundreds of yogurts cups!  

Anyway, to use as a mold all you'll need are the following:

several empty yogurt cups

popsicle sticks

foil

Fill your mold with any substance you wish

(such as buko juice or calamansi juice).

Cover with a small piece of foil.

Cut a slit throught the center of the foil to hold your popsicle stick in place.

Freeze your popsicles for at least 8 hours.

my little toddler loves yogurt and if you're like me you probably have collected a considerable amount of empty yogurt cups.

these little plastic cups are not exactly "recyclalbe" but may be re-used to plant seedlings, to wash out paint brushes, as ice or popsicle molds, measuring cups, etc.

in our home we simply use them as stacking blocks.

at the rate this little guy consumes his yogurt, i might have enough cups for more creative and fun projects in the future.
